'09 CO Regional Success

posted Mar 29, 2009 8:13 AM by St. Vrain Valley Robotics
Although Day One was cut short by a Spring blizzard which made travel dangerous and closed the venue, Magness Arena, at 10:30, the Colorado Regional was a big success for Up-A-Creek Robotics Team 1619.

Team 1619's robot dubbed "Up-Duck" was an amazing competitor, ranking 12th of 48 robots and making it all the way to the semifinals in alliance with teams 1777 and 1348. Semifinal matches are best-two-out-of-three, and although the opposing alliance won the first game, the Up-A-Creek alliance came back with a more than 30 point win which put this semifinal into a third game. And with that third game, our opposing alliance, teams 207, 2083, and 1158, went head-to-head with teams 399, 1332, and 2996, with the latter alliance taking the gold.

Up-A-Creek also won two prestigious awards at the Regional, Delphi's "Driving Tomorrow's Technology" Award, which celebrates an elegant and advantageous machine feature, and the Motorola Quality Award, which celebrates robustness in concept and fabrication.
